Chelsea have parted ways with head coach Enzo Maresca, according to a statement released on January 1, 2026.

The club thanked Maresca for leading the team to win trophies with a young squad still learning to adapt and cope together.

They also wished him the best of luck in his future endeavors, expressing hope that he will continue to excel and make history in the game.

“Chelsea Football Club and Head Coach Enzo Maresca have parted company. During his time at the Club, Enzo led the team to success in the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup. Those achievements will remain an important part of the Club’s recent history, and we thank him for his contributions.

“With key objectives still to play for across four competitions, including qualification for Champions League football, Enzo and the Club believe a change gives the team the best chance of getting the season back on track. We wish Enzo well for the future,” the statement read.

Maresca signed a five‑year contract when he joined Chelsea in the summer of 2024, with the club holding an option to extend it by a further year.

Under his leadership, Chelsea won the Conference League and the Club World Cup in 2025, and he guided them back into the Champions League.
