England-born Ghanaian forward Jesurun Rak-Sakyi was on the scoresheet, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Rizespor from suffering a 2–1 home defeat to Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super Lig on Saturday.
The 23-year-old forward, on loan from Premier League side Crystal Palace, started and played 81 minutes as Rizespor succumbed to defeat in the round-nine fixture at the Çaykur Didi Stadyumu.
Despite the loss, the talented English-Ghanaian attacker was one of the standout performers for the home side.
Trabzonspor took the lead through Felipe Augusto just two minutes into the game before Nigeria international Paul Onuachu doubled the visitors’ advantage in the 19th minute, assisted by Christ Inao Oulai.
In the 27th minute, Rak-Sakyi scored to pull one back for Rizespor. However, his goal was not enough to rescue his side from defeat.
Rak-Sakyi has been impressive for Rizespor in the Turkish top flight this season, scoring three goals in three appearances for the club.
