The Energy Commission has announced the appointment of Adwoa Serwa Bondzie as its new Acting Executive Secretary, effective immediately.

She takes over from Ing Eunice Biritwum, who previously served in the role.

In a statement issued in Accra on Tuesday, the Commission described Bondzie as an experienced executive leader with more than 15 years’ experience spanning business development, energy transition and strategic management.

Her appointment is expected to strengthen the Commission’s drive toward innovation, sustainability, and improved public service delivery within Ghana’s energy sector.

Over the years, she has built a reputation for connecting technical operations with commercial strategy to enhance efficiency, profitability, and long-term value creation across organisations.

Among her notable achievements, Bondzie pioneered the first Trading Desk at the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), where she designed a fuel-trading system that reportedly generated $20 million in profit within two years.

She also led efforts to expand Ghana’s strategic petroleum reserves from four to 12 weeks between 2014 and 2016, a move credited with boosting national energy security.

Her contributions earned her the BOST Leadership and Dedication Award in 2015.

Earlier in her career, she managed multi-million-dollar engineering projects for TechInsights Canada, delivering projects to international standards and timelines.

Bondzie holds a Master of Science degree in Public Policy from the University of Bath, an MBA in International Business and Strategy from Henley Business School, a Bachelor of Science degree in Information and Communication Technology from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), and a Graduate Diploma in Project Management from Algonquin College.

The Commission said her blend of academic credentials and practical leadership experience, coupled with her commitment to sustainable energy solutions, positions her to align corporate strategy with national development priorities and drive growth in the sector.

Her appointment comes at a time when Ghana continues to pursue reforms aimed at strengthening energy security and accelerating the transition to cleaner and more sustainable energy sources.
