Gospel musician Empress Gifty has once again sparked controversy online after receiving backlash for winning ‘Artiste of the Year’ at the just-ended Ghana Music Awards USA.
Empress Gifty clinched the ultimate award on August 16, 2025, edging out top nominees like King Promise, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Diana Hamilton, Joe Mettle, Fameye, KiDi, and King Paluta.
However, following a wave of criticism, claims that she was undeserving of the award, and several other attacks, Empress Gifty has hit back at her detractors in a viral video.
Quoting scriptures from Psalms 13, 55, and 109, she hurled curses and declared that anyone attempting to tarnish her hard-earned reputation should face the wrath of God.
‘Anyone paid to insult me will be dealt with’ – Empress Gifty warns
“I have opened Psalm 109 before God because I know I haven’t said anything evil, yet some of you are spreading lies about my character. I’ve asked God to strike down anyone involved in this.
“Anyone I’ve laughed with, shared a meal with, or confided in, if you are now tarnishing my image, may sudden death from the Lord visit you. And anyone who tries to take the place of God, may the vengeance of the Lord deal with you,” she said.
Nonetheless, Empress Gifty said she will not be shaken by the trolls. She emphasised that her victory is now part of history and nothing can be done about it.
“This cannot be changed. No matter what you do, if you start counting the number of people who have won this award from 2020, you will mention my name when you get to 2025. This name, Empress Gifty, can never be written off. My name is established by God,” she affirmed.
