Auxerre midfielder Elisha Owusu has been ruled out of Ghanaโ€™s upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar due to injury.

The Black Starsโ€™ official X (formerly Twitter) handle announced Owusuโ€™s injury on Monday, March 17, 2025, but did not specify the nature of his injury.

In his place, Cercle Brugge midfielder Lawrence Agyekum has received a late call-up, marking his first-ever senior national team selection. The former Red Bull Salzburg player has been in impressive form in the Belgian Pro League.

Agyekum is expected to arrive in Ghana today, Monday, Marc 17, before linking up with the team for preparations ahead of the crucial qualifiers.

Meanwhile, Owusu becomes the 13th Black Stars player to miss the upcoming World Cup qualifiers due to injury.

Ghana will host Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, before travelling to Morocco to face Madagascar on Monday, March 24.
