The Ejisu Traditional Council has appealed to the Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to prioritise the renovation of the Yaa Asantewaa Musuem when he becomes President of Ghana.

The iconic Asante warrior, Yaa Asantewaa is from Ejisu, in the Ashanti Region, and welcoming Dr. Bawumia to the ancient town on Tuesday, the Council urged Dr. Bawumia to consider bringing the Musuem back to life when he is elected President.

“Dr you are called Agyemang and Yaa Asantewaa is your mother,” said Nana Obeng Panin II, Gyasoahene of the Ejisu Traditional Council, who spoke on behalf of the Ejisumanhene and the Traditional Council.

“The Yaa Asantewaa Musuem, I know you are on your way coming so please note it down and do it when you come to honour your Yaa Asantewaa, Ejisu, Asanteman and Ghana,” he added.

On Dr. Bawumia’s policies for the country, he hailed Dr. Bawumia for his vision for the country, singling out the Vice President’s policy to amend the Chieftaincy Act and empower traditional rulers at the local level.

“What you have been saying which we are so happy is that you will end the era of traditional rulers being used as ceremonial tools.

“You have said that you want to empower Chiefs to play a role in governance at the local level. It is very laudable so please do it when you come.”

“We know the Almighty God and our ancestors will elevate you to where you want to go so that you will bring honour to us.”

Vice President Bawumia was honoured with the name Agyemang by the Asantehene, having declared and adopted him as his son.
