The Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo administration allegedly terrorized former John Dramani Mahama government appointees when they gained power in 2017, according to Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) Director of Legal Affairs.

Eduzi claimed that armed men forcibly entered the residences of former Mandela administration appointees while they were with their kids.

Speaking on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at a panel discussion on TV3, the NDC legal affairs director said that some of the appointees even spent nights in jail despite having no criminal records.

I recall that in January of 2016, important John Mahama appointments were forced to sleep at police stations as counter-backs. At 5 a.m., my boss, Dominic Ayine, the Deputy AG at the time, woke up to discover armed men encircling his home. What crime did he commit? He authored a legal judgment. You even made it illegal to express legal beliefs.

One morning you wake up. John Jinapor, his wife, and kids were at home when armed guys burst in brandishing AK-47s. When you wake up one morning, armed men break into the residence of the Honourable Kwabena Donkor.

Eduzi said this in response to claims made by supporters of the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo administration that President-Elect John Dramani Mahama’s anti-corruption campaign, Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL), was pointless and would fail.

He urged the Akufo-Addo administration’s appointees to get ready for what was about to happen.

Appointees of the Akufo-Addo administration would all be imprisoned, he continued, if the NDC were to emulate the NPP.

“You are discussing the ORAL, which is doomed to fail. Unwind. What is about to happen is unknown to you. Keep your cool. By the Akufo-Addo criterion, the majority of you will be behind bars.

It is impossible to exist in this nation if we adopt the Akufo-Addo standard, which he has been using since 2017. Are you aware of what others have experienced? And they don’t talk. He responded, “Slow down and observe.”

He added that the purpose of the five-member ORAL committee that John Dramani Mahama has formed is to set the stage for the initiative’s full implementation when Mahama takes office on January 7, 2024.

    About the ORAL group:

On Wednesday, December 18, 2024, President-Elect John Dramani Mahama formed a five-member team to begin operating his anti-corruption program, Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL).

All of the nation’s riches that have been looted by public officials are to be recovered as part of this endeavor.

The MP for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, will serve as the team’s chair against corruption.

Investigative journalist Raymond Archer, retired Commissioner of Police (COP) Nathaniel Kofi Boakye, former Auditor-General Daniel Yao Domelevo, and prominent private attorney Martin Kpebu are among the team members.

According to a statement released by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the spokesperson for Mahama’s Transition Team, the team’s primary duty is to obtain information regarding any corrupt activities.

It further stated that making sure ORAL gets underway as soon as feasible is the main goal of the preparatory team.

According to the team’s chairperson, Okudzeto Ablakwa, their first meeting took place on Wednesday.

According to him, the group will not be compensated for their efforts with the squad.
