The Member of Parliament of Ketu North, Eric Edem Agbana, on Sunday, March 2, 2025, officially launched the Ketu North Scholar Program, also known as the Edem Agbana Scholarship Scheme, at the Municipal Assembly Hall at

    Dzodze.

The initiative, aimed at supporting tertiary students from the constituency, according to the MP, will be partially funded by a personal commitment of 50% of his monthly salary.

In his address, Edem Agbana underscored his dedication to education, stating, “To ensure the sustainability of this program, I have personally committed to dedicating 50% of my monthly salary to fund the scholarship.”

He emphasised that this ongoing contribution is intended to provide consistent support for students year after year, addressing financial barriers to higher education.

The scholarship’s inaugural cohort includes 302 students, with 22 persons with disabilities and 25 women in STEM receiving full funding.

Three students will also receive laptops, while others will benefit from 60% to 80% coverage of tuition, textbooks, and academic expenses.

The MP expressed gratitude to donors, including Abraham Eghan and Ebo Quist for their support, noting that continued contributions will help expand the program.

He described the scholarship as a reflection of his broader mission in politics.

“It is not politics for me—it is a ministry to impact lives,” he noted.

He encouraged beneficiaries to seize the opportunity and excel, with plans to prioritize STEM, professional, and vocational training in the program’s next phase.

Having won the Ketu North seat in the 2024 parliamentary election, Edem Agbana entered Ghana’s 9th Parliament as one of the youngest members.
