The Electoral Commission (EC) has stated that it will declare the presidential election results at 4:30 p.m. today, after receiving results from 13 regions so far.

At a news conference today, the EC’s Deputy Chairperson, Samuel Tettey, assured the public that the commission was working within the legally required period to declare the results, as outlined in C.I 127.

Tettey highlighted that the EC has 72 hours after the polls shut to announce the official results, and that the process is following the rules.

His words came in reaction to mounting worries and objections, mainly from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and other residents, regarding delays in the presidential election results release.

Critics have labeled the situation as “feet dragging,” questioning the speed of the EC’s process.

Mrs. Jean Mensa, the EC Chairperson, addressed the public’s worries, assuring them that the commission was conducting a rigorous and meticulous vetting procedure.

She highlighted that the delay was necessary to guarantee that the results were accurate and reflected the people’s actual desire.
