Deputy Director for IT and Elections of the NDC, Rashid Tanko-Computer Deputy Director for IT and Elections of the NDC, Rashid Tanko-Computer

The Deputy Director for IT and Elections of the NDC, Rashid Tanko-Computer, has revealed that the party considered both the Electoral Commission and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as its primary opponents during the 2024 general elections.

Speaking on Morning Starr with Naa Dedei Tettey, Tanko-Computer said the NDC approached the polls with heightened vigilance due to its distrust of the EC’s leadership.

“For them, when it comes to matters of election, the NDC, we have our own. We watch them with eagle eyes to be sure that the right things are done.”

He was emphatic about how the party viewed the contest.

“We went into the election with two opponents. The first opponent was the Electoral Commission. The second opponent was NPP. That’s how we won the election.”

Tanko-Computer referenced the 2020 elections, alleging irregularities.

“Otherwise, if we allow them, like how we thought there were people who were independent minded doing their work in 2020, they ended up rigging the election and ran away from being cross-examined in the courts. We all saw it.”

He insisted that constant scrutiny of the EC is necessary to protect electoral integrity.

“Governors must be thankful to the NDC for keeping them in check, to make sure that we force them to do the right thing.”
