Ghanaian rapper M.anifest has weighed in on calls for a statue to be erected in honour of late Highlife legend Ebo Taylor.

According to him, preserving the icon’s legacy must go beyond statues.

His comments come after musician Worlasi publicly called for a statue to be built in honour of Ebo Taylor following the Highlife pioneer’s passing.

Reacting to the proposal on X on February 24, 2026, M.anifest noted that while statues may serve as symbolic gestures, they are not sufficient to preserve the impact of Ebo Taylor’s legacy.

“A statue will eventually fade and fall,” he said.

He rather called for Ebo Taylor’s music and contributions to be actively embedded in Ghana’s educational systems instead of just a statue.

“His formidable work needs to be shared, taught, used, and integrated into the zeitgeist in a real way,” he stated.

M.anifest’s comments join those of various entertainment stakeholders who have shared their thoughts about how Ghana honors its creative legends, particularly after the deaths of several Ghanaian music legends, including Daddy Lumba, Yaw Sarpong and Ebo Taylor.
