Two Ghanaian creatives, music entrepreneur Baba Sadiq and actress Ebi Bright, may not make it to parliament next year after failing to secure the majority of votes in their respective constituencies following a re-collation of results by the Electoral Commission on Saturday.

Baba Sadiq, who was initially declared the winner of Okaikwei Central with 15,383 votes, narrowly defeating the incumbent MP, Patrick Boamah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who had 14,949 votes, lost his lead after the re-collation.

Results released by the EC on December 21, 2024, indicated that Mr. Patrick Yaw Boamah, the incumbent Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, won with 21,099 votes, retaining his seat in Parliament, while Baba Sadiq secured 19,368 votes.

Similarly, actress Ebi Bright, who was earlier declared the winner for the Tema Central seat by defeating Charles Forson of the NPP by a narrow margin of 118 votes (18,539 to 18,421), also lost her lead.

The re-collation results now have NPP’s Charles Forson securing 18,870 votes, while Ebi Bright of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) received 18,815 votes.

The EC began the re-collation and declaration of results for nine disputed constituencies in compliance with a court order.

In the Obuasi East Constituency, Patrick Boakye-Yiadom of the NPP retained his seat with 18,558 votes, narrowly defeating Samuel Aboagye of the NDC.

Similarly in Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh of the NPP won with 29,640 votes, edging out Fummey Philibert of the NDC.

In Ahafo Ano North, Nana Agyemang Prempeh of the NPP retained his seat with 20,353 votes, narrowly beating Kwasi Adusei of the NDC.

Elvis Osei Dapaah of the NPP secured victory in Ahafo Ano South West with 16,058 votes, and Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah of the NPP was declared the winner in Techiman South.

The re-collation was conducted under tight security to ensure transparency and compliance with electoral laws.
