The Eastern and Central regional football associations have held their respective Ordinary Congresses to usher in the 2024-25 football season.

The Eastern regional event was chaired by the Regional Football Association (RFA) boss, Mr Lindford Asamoah Boadu, with that of the Central RFA chaired by Central RFA boss, Mr Robert Otieku Duncan.

It brought together principal stakeholders including club representatives, District FA chairmen, referees and other affiliate bodies.

GFA Executive Council member, Samuel Aboabire, represented the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, at the Eastern regional congress while the Central regional event was held on Wednesday at the Oguaa Teacher’s Credit Union at Bakano in Cape Coast attracting another GFA Executive Council member, Eugene Nobel Noel, representing Mr Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku.

Delivering the FA President’s goodwill message, Mr Aboabire and Mr Noel pledged the FA’s continued support for the RFAs in the area of officiating fees, logistics, and subvention, monthly allowances for RFA Chairmen, their Vice Chairman, and Referees Managers, amongst others.

They indicated that the GFA had invested heavily in capacity building at the grassroots level, urging the regional block to commence the mandatory Girls U-13, U-15 and U17 leagues in the district.

In his address to Congress, the Central regional Chairman, Robert Otieku Duncan, underscored the significant strides made by his administration in the development of the game in the year under review.

“The year under review saw many increased participation from the juvenile from Division 3 to Division 2 and women football clubs.

“I wish to applaud the District Referees Managers for a very good work done. Again, your commitment in training and improving the ‘Catch Them Young Referees’ is yielding results and I urge you to continue the push,” he stated.

The congresses deliberated on essential matters that impact regional football, including administrative, developmental, and financial aspects.

The annual gathering also focused on providing a blueprint for organising and executing various competitions across all levels.

These include youth football, women’s football, and grassroots initiatives, all aimed at enhancing football development in the Central Region.

The Eastern RFA Division 2 league is scheduled to commence on October, 26th, 2024 at all Leagues and game centres.
