Super welterweights Sam Castellanos (4-0, 3 KOs) and Ricardo Elizalde (0-2) kicked off the Golden Boy show headlined by the154lb showdown between Vergil Ortiz Jr and Erickson Lubin at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. Castellanos was pounding Elizalde over the first two rounds when Elizalde motioned to referee Rober Chapa that he was going to take a knee out of a clinch. Elizalde got up to fight when his corner got up on the ring apron and signaled to the stop the fight. It was announced that the corner retired their fighter and the fight was stopped at 55 seconds of round two. Castellanos remained undefeated with the win.
