Scores of entertainment industry players, family, friends, and sympathisers gathered at the forecourt of the State House in Accra on Saturday, April 5, 2025 to bid farewell to Teddy Osei, the legendary musician and one of the founding members of the Osibisa band.

The funeral ceremony, held in honor of the late saxophonist, attracted prominent figures from Ghana’s creative arts sector to pay their final respects.

In a video circulating on social media, the Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, was spotted at the funeral ceremony alongside Highlife legend Gyedu-Blay Ambolley and Grammy-nominated artist Rocky Dawuni.

In a separate video trending on social media, international master drummer Okyerema Asante was also seen performing a traditional drum display to pay tribute to the late Teddy Osei.

Some sympathisers were also seen singing one of Osibisa band’s most popular songs, Woyaya, at the funeral ceremony.

Dzifa Gomashie donated GH¢50,000 to the bereaved family to assist with funeral expenses.

Teddy Osei passed away on January 14, 2025, in London at the age of 88.

His contributions to music and culture, particularly through the internationally recognized Osibisa band, have left a lasting legacy.
