Entertainment pundit, Kwaku Osei Korankye Asiedu, popularly known as KOKA, has expressed his reservations about the nomination of Dzifa Gomashie as the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts.

In a discussion on Hitz FM on January 17, 2025, KOKA questioned Gomashie’s suitability for the role, citing a lack of expertise in managing the creative arts sector and generating revenue from it.

“I don’t think she fits the place. I don’t think she has what it takes to be there. We sometimes forget that currently, we don’t have any data that makes the creative arts viable to invest in.

“If we are bringing a specialised person from creative arts, really what is the person coming to drive? So, for me, I feel she really doesn’t have the expertise,” he said.

KOKA argued that the president faces limitations in appointing two-thirds of his ministers from Parliament, which might have influenced the decision.

However, he stressed the need for someone capable of managing various departments to generate revenue, a task he believes Dzifa Gomashie would struggle with.

“In terms of projecting and doing creative arts things, fine, but where I sit and looking at the number of people in the three departments, I don’t think she qualifies,” KOKA stated.

When asked who he would prefer for the position, KOKA suggested media personality Abeiku Santana, citing his background in tourism, management, and administration.

He also mentioned Ola Michael and Rex Omar as suitable candidates, highlighting their qualifications and experiences in the creative arts industry.

“If you take somebody like Abeiku Santana, Abeiku Santana is a creative, he has a tourism and has a managerial and administrative background to be able to drive it.

“When you take somebody like Ola Michael, Ola Michael has both those qualifications,” he said.

KOKA defended Rex Omar against critics who questioned his political qualifications, noting his significant contributions and hard work.

“I really don’t get why people were against him or were saying he is not qualified for politics. Rex Omar worked. I was on the other side, but I saw Rex Omar’s work,” he said.
