The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has announced the suspension of activities by its Compliance Team, effective Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

According to a release dated Tuesday, October 14, 2025, the DVLA stated that the enforcement exercise, aimed at promoting regulatory compliance on the roads, has been suspended to allow for further engagements.

“The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) announces to the general public that, effective tomorrow, October 15, 2025, all activities of the Compliance Team in relation to fines on our roads are suspended till further notice. The compliance enforcement exercise, which was intensified and carried out on our roads to promote regulatory compliance, was aimed at ensuring that vehicles and drivers adhere to legal requirements to be on our roads.

“However, the Authority, upon further consultation and feedback from the public, announces the suspension of this activity in order to allow for extended engagement on the matter before reintroducing the Compliance Team on our roads,” the DVLA said.

In recent weeks, DVLA Compliance Teams have been conducting unannounced road checks, imposing spot fines on drivers found culpable of violating regulatory and legal requirements.

The Authority, however, clarified that while the suspension affects the enforcement of certain fees and charges, it does not suspend any legal requirements for drivers and road users.

“Although committed to ensuring safety on our roads, we equally appreciate the fact that the general public must be adequately educated to fully appreciate the responsibilities unapproved conducts on our roads come with.

“The general public is specifically informed that this exercise is in relation to the fees and charges that were being enforced by the Compliance Team. This press release does not in any way suspend the legal requirements for drivers and vehicles to use our roads,” the statement added.
