A drunk plane passenger screamed ‘I’m savage, I drink JD’ and ‘You can’t tell me what do, I’m English’ on a flight in front of fearing passengers, magistrates were told.
Stephen Blofield was so drunk while on a plane from Krakow to Bristol that passengers and crew were left terrified for their safety on November 11, 2025, North Somerset Magistrates were told.
The 61-year-old of Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, had been drinking doubles at the Polish airport before becoming abusive and causing widespread alarm on the flight’s descent, the court heard.
Blofield screamed to fellow passengers, ‘I’m savage, I drink JD’, before saying ‘You can’t tell me what to do, I’m English’, when asked by members of the crew to calm down.
‘The defendant seemed to be very drunk. Multiple passengers described him as loud, volatile, intoxicated and repeatedly swearing,’ prosecuting, Michael Collins told the court.
‘The cabin around him was visibly fearful. Several were recording on their mobile phones.
He went on to disregard the pilot’s demands to be seated, endangering safe operations of the aircraft, Mr Collins added.
He was arrested on board by police and called one officer a ‘c**t after landing at Bristol Airport, in an incident captured by body-worn footage.

‘The defendant continued his aggressive behaviour. He had glazed red eyes and was smelling of alcohol,’ the prosecution added.
‘He was calling the officer a ‘c**t’ and had to be restrained. The incident was captured on recorded footage.’
Blofield described himself as ‘a bit drunk’ after drinking two doubles at Krakow airport before departure.
He was later ‘ashamed, embarrassed and accepted his behaviour,’ the court was told.
Appearing in the dock wearing blue jeans and a green zip-up top, Blofield pleaded guilty to all four charges put to him.
Charges included entering an aircraft while drunk and a second charge of failing to obey the lawful commands of the pilot to remain seated.
The demands were given ‘for the purpose of securing the safety of the aircraft.’
An additional two charges of behaving in a threatening, abusive, insulting or disorderly manner towards a member of aircraft crew, and using threatening, abusive words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress in relation to the other passengers.
A pre-sentence report was requested by the defence as Blofeld has significant health conditions needed to be properly investigated by probation.
Blofield was released on unconditional bail to appear at Bristol Crown Court for sentencing on 7 April.
