The head coach of Bibiani Gold Stars, Frimpong Manso, has made a bold statement regarding the future of the Black Stars, urging head coach Otto Addo to drop any players who are not fully committed to representing the nation.

Speaking in an interview with Akoma FM, Coach Frimpong Manso emphasised the need for dedication among players, especially as the team navigates the challenging waters of the AFCON Qualifiers.

“With this group (in AFCON QUALIFIERS), we should have easily qualified without any mathematical calculations.

“Our team lacked the commitment to die for the nation; Otto Addo should drop all players who are unwilling to play because, given what they are doing, our local players can outperform them,” Coach Otto Addo said.

Coach Frompong Manso’s comments come as the Black Stars find themselves in a precarious position in the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers, sitting third in Group F after four matches.

With five points behind Sudan in second place and seven points behind Angola at the top, the road to qualification appears increasingly difficult.

Coach Frimpong Manso has suggested it may be time to shift focus from AFCON aspirations to prioritising the World Cup qualification.
