Stephen King Amoah was found murdered after being reported missing Stephen King Amoah was found murdered after being reported missing

The court case involving immigration officer, Stephen King Amoah, who was reported missing by his family and later found murdered, took a new turn at the Kaneshie District Court on Thursday, September 4, 2025, during proceedings.

The two suspects, Bright Aweh and Thomas Zigah, currently in police custody, were brought before the court by police investigators in the presence of the bereaved family members seeking justice for their deceased relative.

Upon the accused persons’ arrival at the court premises, under heavy security, the family, who had previously physically and verbally confronted the suspects, vowed not to act in a similar manner this time.

The case has been adjourned to October 9, 2025.

This article highlights events that ensued at the court on September 4, 2025.

    Judge pleads with family

The Presiding Judge of the Kaneshie District Court, Abena Asoh Owusu-Omenyo, admonished the bereaved family of Stephen King Amoah to allow the law to take its course and not take matters into their own hands.

The judge is quoted as saying by TV3, “It’s not easy at all. Nobody should downplay the pain you’re going through. We don’t want you to put yourselves in trouble otherwise all your efforts will be useless. The wheels of justice grind slowly. The attacks will not help, let’s focus on justice. If you commit a crime around the court premises or in the courtroom, Nsawam Prisons await you.”

    Family demands missing body parts

The family said they cannot proceed with Stephen King Amoah’s burial until his remains are complete.

In an interview with JoyNews after the hearing on Thursday, September 4, 2025, a relative of the deceased revealed that preliminary checks during preparations for the burial showed portions of the late officer’s body are missing.

“We cannot lay him to rest like this. We need his full remains,” the family member said.

He called on investigators and the suspects to provide clarity and release the missing parts to the family.

According to the family, the situation has deepened their grief and stalled funeral arrangements.

    Unknown location of accused persons

Counsel for one of the suspects, Gordon Aboagye, raised concerns about the conditions under which suspects are being held.

He argued that, in line with democratic principles, families of the suspects should be aware of their location to enable visitation.

“… We cannot find him (Thomas Zigah). He is not where we knew he had been kept, so that we can have access to him. They have agreed that they will grant access but they will not disclose it to the public. Once they tell us, we will go and visit him,” the lawyer told journalists after the court proceedings.

    Invocation of curses

There was also a bit of drama at the Kaneshie District Court when a relative of the victim, overwhelmed by emotion, performed rituals and invoked curses on those she believes are responsible for his death.

The aggrieved relative, clad in a black traditional smock with a red scarf with eggs in a black polythene bag, broke the eggs while calling on the gods of the land to take action against those involved in the gruesome killing of the deceased. She even extended the curse to their unborn generations.

In the video circulating on social media, she was heard speaking in Twi dialect, “He is not the only one responsible; there are others involved. I pray the gods deal with whoever is responsible. Bosom Denteh, where ever you are, speak for us. Anyone who knows something about the death, deal with them.”

The woman, who according to reports, is an aunt of the deceased, Stephen King Amoah, went on to remove her scarf to invoke additional curses on those she believed were responsible, in full view of those present at the court.
