Social media has been buzzing after a shocking incident involving a woman who allegedly pretended to be dead in a bid to escape paying her ajo (thrift contribution) debt.

According to a post shared on Instagram, the woman, identified as Imisi, had reportedly been avoiding repayment for some time.

When pressure from members of her thrift group intensified, she allegedly teamed up with her sister to stage a dramatic fake death.

The duo reportedly recorded a video showing Imisi wrapped in a white cloth, with cotton stuffed in her nostrils, lying motionless to create the impression that she had passed away.

The clip was then sent to the thrift group to convince members of her supposed death.

In addition to the video, her sister allegedly posted a message in the group chat claiming they had lost her, suggesting Imisi died due to threats over her unpaid debt.

The message read, “Imisi is dead oooo. We’re going to our hometown today, and we will carry the corpse to bury her today. A lot is inside her phone ooo A lot of threatening messages she’s receiving cause of the money den carry japa. Sis Bimpe, I lost Imisi. Imisi left without considering our own family. Her phone is with the police. My dad said he wants to know the people who are threatening her. Her final words were that she owes you a lot. Her friend will address the group.”

The stunt quickly went viral, sparking widespread reactions across social media with many users describing it as one of the wildest debt excuses ever.
