Black Starlets head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum has shared his thoughts following Ghana’s 1-1 stalemate with Togo in their opening fixture at the 2025 WAFU Zone B U17 Boys Championship in Yamoussoukro.

Speaking to the media after the game, Dr. Ogum praised his players for their resilience and tactical discipline despite playing almost the entire match with ten men.

The Black Starlets went down to ten men in the 2nd minute after Gabriel Denyinah received a red card. Despite the numerical disadvantage, skipper Joseph Narbi put Ghana ahead in the 9th minute before Togo equalised through a second-half penalty.

Dr. Ogum highlighted the boys’ character and commitment under difficult circumstances, describing their performance as “commendable.”

The coach also called on Ghanaians to continue rallying behind the team, noting that their support is crucial to the Black Starlets’ success in the competition.
