In a spirited display of leadership and commitment to youth development, Professor Dr. Grace Ayensu-Dankwa officially launched her 2024 football tournament yesterday at the Fijai AstroTurf.

The opening match between Kansawrodo and Nkroful marked the beginning of a competition that brings together 24 teams from various communities across the constituency.

Dr. Ayensu-Dankwa, along with key dignitaries including Constituency Organizer Samuel Binney, Fijai Assemblyman Hon. Albert Yalley, and Deputy Constituency Treasurer Hon. Seidu, participated in the ceremonial kick-off, signaling the vibrant start of the tournament.

Each of the 24 participating teams will receive an appearance fee of GH¢600, underscoring Dr. Ayensu-Dankwa’s dedication to ensuring every team benefits from the event. The winner of the competition will be awarded a grand prize of GH¢4000, along with professional jerseys and balls, while the runner-up will take home GH¢2000, jerseys, and balls as well.

In her address to the enthusiastic crowd and players, Dr. Ayensu-Dankwa reaffirmed her deep commitment to developing local talent, particularly among the youth.

She emphasized that sports, especially football, could serve as a tool for uniting the community, promoting non-partisanship, and fostering social cohesion. She expressed her vision of nurturing football talent within the constituency, with the ambitious goal of producing international-caliber players from the area.

“I am committed to supporting the youth not just in sports, but in all areas of development. Through this tournament, I hope to inspire our young people to aim high, work together, and contribute to the growth of our community. If elected as your MP, I will continue to invest in opportunities that uplift every individual in this constituency,” Dr. Ayensu-Dankwa remarked.

The tournament is set to offer a platform for young athletes to showcase their skills while fostering community spirit and unity. Dr. Ayensu-Dankwa’s vision extends beyond football, as she aims to create more programs and initiatives that will empower the youth, boost local development, and bring sustainable growth to the constituency.

Her passion and determination to see her community thrive were palpable, with many attendees expressing optimism about the future under her leadership. The tournament promises to be a symbol of the vibrant potential that lies within the constituency, with Dr. Ayensu-Dankwa leading the charge toward a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
