A fresh wave of controversy has erupted within Ghana’s academic and media circles as senior lecturer Dr George Domfeh accuses TV3 of deliberately omitting a crucial moment from its broadcast of his heated exchange with Professor Ransford Gyampo on The Key Points.

According to Dr Domfeh, he returned home exhausted after the programme and went straight to bed. Upon waking, he found that TV3 had uploaded the video of their confrontation — but a key portion was missing. He claimed that the part where Prof. Gyampo allegedly got up from his seat and attempted to advance toward him was not included in the footage.

Dr Domfeh openly questioned TV3’s editorial motives, suggesting possible collusion or biased decision-making. He also expressed deep disappointment in the station’s handling of the situation, insisting that he expected a full and transparent release of the video.

Despite the controversy, Dr Domfeh emphasised that no amount of selective editing or public backlash would deter him from expressing his views.

    Background to the Gyampo–Domfeh altercation

Dr Domfeh’s latest accusation adds fuel to a saga that has dominated social media discourse since November 15, 2025, following the circulation of two videos capturing tense moments between the two University of Ghana lecturers.

The first video, recorded during their live appearance on TV3’s The Key Points, showed Prof Gyampo — a Political Science lecturer and CEO of the Ghana Shippers Authority — and Dr Domfeh engaging in a heated verbal exchange after a policy discussion devolved into personal attacks.

The confrontation intensified when Dr Domfeh accused Prof. Gyampo of entrenched political bias and questioned his conduct during his tenure as UTAG president. Prof Gyampo responded angrily, dismissing Dr Domfeh’s criticisms.

A second video, shared off-air on Facebook, revealed an even more chaotic scene, appearing to show the altercation nearly turning physical. In that clip, Dr. Domfe made additional unverified allegations against Prof. Gyampo, escalating public concern and drawing strong condemnation.

Many social media users and members of the academic community described the conduct of the two scholars as unbecoming of their positions.

It is within this context that Dr Domfeh’s claim — that TV3 edited out the moment Prof Gyampo allegedly advanced toward him — has intensified debate over media transparency, editorial ethics, and accountability.
