Former Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency, Dr Eric Oduro Osae, has submitted proof of his terminal degree, transcripts, and an evaluation letter issued by the then National Accreditation Board, now the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), confirming his academic title.

A letter dated October 8, 2025, and addressed to the Director-General of GTEC, stated, “Your letter specifically requested clarification on the name of the awarding institution, as well as copies of the degree certificate and official transcript. Further to your request, please find attached documents evidencing the award of my terminal degree, the awarding institution, copies of my transcript, and a degree evaluation letter issued by the then National Accreditation Board (NAB), now succeeded by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) in November 2015, confirming the equivalency of my terminal degree to similar degrees awarded by recognized universities in Ghana following my submission for evaluation after graduation.”

Dr Oduro Osae further noted that signed copies of his defended thesis, together with books and academic papers he has authored and published over the past decade, are also available for verification.

“I trust that documents marked (Attachments 1-3) will be adequate to satisfy the Commission’s request for official documentary evidence of my terminal degree,” the letter added.

The submission follows a formal letter issued to him by GTEC on the same date, October 8, 2025, requesting documentary proof of his use of the academic title “Dr.”

The Commission, led by its Director-General, Professor Ahmed Jinapor Abdulai, stated that it views the unauthorised or inappropriate use of such titles as a serious matter that violates academic protocols governing the conferment and use of degrees in Ghana.

In its correspondence, GTEC directed Dr Oduro Osae to provide the name of the awarding institution, copies of his degree certificate and transcript, or alternatively, to cease the use of the title “Dr” if he could not provide the necessary documentation. The Commission gave him until October 17, 2025, to comply with the directive.
