The Democratic Republic of Congo players received a hero’s welcome from their fans upon arriving in the country after qualifying for the 2026 World Cup continental play-offs.
They were greeted by thousands of supporters at the 80,000-capacity Martyrs Stadium to celebrate their impressive performance.
Government officials and high-profile personalities in DR Congo were in attendance, with President Felix Tshisekedi present to address and commend the players.

The team will now prepare for the continental play-offs in March 2026 as they aim to seal qualification for the tournament.
The Super Eagles had started the World Cup play-off final strongly, scoring the first goal in the 3rd minute through Frank Onyeka.
They continued to push for a second, but the resilience of the Congolese defense denied them further opportunities.
The game shifted as the first half progressed, with DR Congo’s Elia equalizing in the 32nd minute.
The score remained unchanged after extra time, and DR Congo emerged victorious, winning 4-3 in the penalty shootout.
