Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and other high-profile personalities within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) attended the funeral of the late musician Dada Kweku Duah (KD) to pay their last respects.

Dr Bawumia was accompanied by Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, former National Lottery Authority boss Sammi Awuku, and other members of the party.

The event, held at the Forecourt of the State House on September 20, 2025, saw the dignitaries dressed in black funeral attire.

They paid their final respects to the late musician in honour of his legacy.

At one point, Dr. Bawumia embraced musician Pat Thomas while he was performing on stage, sharing a brief moment with him.

In addition to the political figures, celebrities such as Salinko, KK Fosu, Rex Omar, and others were also spotted at the event.

In recognition of Dada KD’s musical contributions, which helped project the nation internationally, the government is assisting with funeral arrangements in collaboration with the family.

The funeral has drawn a large crowd of fans and industry figures, all paying tribute to Dada KD’s lasting impact on Ghanaian music.

The highlife legend’s death was announced on May 17, 2025, after a short illness.

Dada KD passed away just days before he was scheduled to perform in London alongside Obrafour, Slim Buster, and Kojo Blakk.
