    Dorcas Affo-Toffey provides trunks, chop boxes, mattresses to over 500 SHS entrants

    The Member of Parliament (MP) for Jomoro Constituency in the Western region, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has distributed metal trunks, chop boxes, mattresses, exercise books and mosquito nets to over five hundred (500) brilliant but needy senior high school (SHS) 2025 entrants.

    In addition, Dorcas Affo-Toffey who is also the Deputy Transport Minister, distributed sanitary pads to the female beneficiaries.

    The first edition of the “Jomoro MP Scholarship For SHS Entrants” was launched at Half Assini in 2022 to cover the materials that are not included in the Free SHS policy.

    The criteria for the 2025 edition is based on BECE scores, family circumstances and gender.

    It benefited 110 private and public Junior High Schools in the Jomoro Constituency.

    Speaking at the colorful ceremony at Bomyere junction Roman Catholic basic school on Sunday, October 5, 2025, Dorcas Affo-Toffey commended the committee members of the program for ensuring fairness and transparency in the selection of the beneficiaries.

    She revealed that the maiden program launched in 2022 produced positive results.

    She added that the success of the 2022 program motivated her to continue with it.

    Dorcas Affo-Toffey emphasised that the program would be sustainable to benefit future brilliant but needy students in her Constituency.

    She said her program would not just be a financial aid but would be a symbol of hope.

    “…this is not just a financial aid, it is a symbol of hope, a seed of empowerment and a promise to the next generation…”, she stated.

    She was optimistic that the beneficiaries would be engineers, teachers, lawyers, doctors, journalists and great leaders in future.

    She stated that, “this scholarship program stands at the testament to our unshakable commitment to give equal opportunity for all”.

    She urged parents in the area to continue to providing good parental care to their children to become responsible citizens in Ghana.

    Dorcas Affo-Toffey took the opportunity to urge the beneficiaries to good use of the items and take their studies seriously.

    She further urged teachers to continue to instilling discipline in the students.

    The President of Western Nzema Traditional Council, Awulae Kwasi Amakyi III commended Dorcas Affo-Toffey for the program.

    “I’m very excited to see a politician helping our children to become great personalities in Jomoro and today is my first time of appearing in public and I’m here because of this very important initiative instituted by Dorcas Affo-Toffey”, he said.

    He took the opportunity and appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to re-construct the Samenye to Half Assini bad road network to save lives.

    Jomoro Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Benedict Boadi praised Dorcas Affo-Toffey and pledged to support her to deliver well.

    Jomoro Municipal Education Director, Mary Edith Hagan, urged Dorcas Affo-Toffey to continue with her initiative and appealed to her support the Jomoro Municipal Education Directorate.

    Some of the beneficiaries and their parents who spoke to Daniel Kaku at the Roman Catholic Basic School Park on Sunday, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Dorcas Affo-Toffey and prayed to Almighty God to protect and bless Dorcas Affo-Toffey.
