Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe-Ghansah, Member of Parliament for Ada and First Deputy Majority Whip, has sent a strong message of support and caution as the Black Queens gear up for a historic semifinal clash against hosts Morocco at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The Black Queens advanced to the semifinals for the first time since 2016 after edging past Algeria in a nerve-racking 4-2 penalty shootout following a goalless draw on Saturday, July 19, 2025.

They now face a formidable challenge against the Atlas Lionesses at the Stade Olympique de Rabat on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, with a coveted place in the final on the line.

In her message, Cudjoe-Ghansah extended warm congratulations to the team, praising the players not only for their resilience but for inspiring countless young girls across the country to believe in their sporting dreams.

“This victory doesn’t only bring glory to Ghana, but it also ignites hope of every young girl who dreams of rising through sports to represent our beloved country,” she said.

As excitement builds for the semifinal, the First Deputy Majority Whip urged the Queens to stay focused and carry the nation’s hopes with pride.

“We urge them to carry the hope and prayers of the entire nation with pride and confidence,” she added.

But alongside her praise, the Ada MP delivered a firm reminder to all political actors and Ghanaians to resist using the team’s remarkable journey for political gain.

“This is woman power, it is not political power but women power, and the women are performing so nobody should politicise them. All we need is victory,” she stressed.

A win for the Black Queens will see them play in their first WAFCON final in nearly two decades.
