Renowned Ghanaian marriage counselor Rev. Charlotte Oduro has encouraged young women to take their time before marrying. She emphasized the significance of preparedness, asking females to avoid the mistakes of earlier generations. According to her, rushing into marriage without adequate understanding frequently results in regret and emotional misery.

Speaking on the matter, Rev. Oduro stated that many women enter marriage with exaggerated expectations, only to be disappointed. She indicated that love alone is insufficient to survive a marriage; instead, maturity, patience, and knowledge are required. She advised women to prioritize self-development, study about marriage, and ensure they are psychologically and emotionally prepared before making lifetime commitments.

Her counsel comes at a time when many young people are under pressure to marry because of societal expectations. She cautioned that giving in to such pressure can lead to unhappy marriages because many women are unaware of the obligations that come with being married. She urged women to seek information and advice before making a decision, emphasizing that marriage is more than just donning a wedding gown; it is about creating a future with the right partner.

Rev. Oduro’s statement has aroused debate, with many agreeing that modern partnerships necessitate a thorough understanding and readiness. Others argue that, while preparation is essential, no one can entirely anticipate what marriage will bring. Nonetheless, her words serve as a warning to those who rush into partnerships without first understanding the hardships that lie ahead.

Rev. Oduro has openly discussed her personal experiences and continues to use her position to teach people about relationships. She continues to promote patience, self-awareness, and making informed marriage decisions, pushing young women to put their happiness and stability first before walking down the aisle.
