Don’t label all young people as lazy

Popular Ghanaian playwright and media personality, George Quaye, has pleaded with Ghanaians to avoid tagging young individuals going through hardship as lazy.

In a post on his Facebook page on March 20, 2025, Quaye explained that many young people are just in need of support and opportunity and are not as lazy as some people make them seem.

“Please don’t label all young people as lazy. You see, behind every struggling soul is a story you may not fully understand.

“Many are just searching for a hand to hold, a little support, or a single opportunity to rise to the next level,” he shared.

Quaye advised those in a helping position to not hesitate to help any young person who seeks their help, adding that it takes effort from some people to seek help.

“If God has placed you in a position where you can help—where you can be that bridge for someone—please don’t hold back. Asking for help is one of the most difficult things to do.

“It takes courage to silence the voices of guilt, shame, and self-doubt. It takes strength to admit, ‘I can’t do this alone.’ So, when someone finally gathers the courage to approach you, to trust you with their vulnerability, please don’t turn them away nor make them chase you endlessly,” he added.

He continued by stating that, “A little kindness, a little support, can change a life forever. Be the person who says, ‘I see you. I believe in you. I know you can do this. Here, this should get you somewhere.’ Because sometimes, all it takes is one person to make all the difference.”
