The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has advised the family of the late Apostle Professor Emeritus Kwadwo Safo to remain united and protect their father’s legacy, warning that confusion and disunity could destroy the monumental achievements he left behind.

Speaking when the family of the late industrialist and founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana called on him in Parliament, Bagbin urged the children and relatives to preserve Apostle Safo’s heritage of innovation, philanthropy, and patriotism.

“Do not allow confusion and anarchy to dissipate the legacies of this great man. Let unity and purpose guide you,” he said.

The Speaker described Apostle Safo as “a man of many parts a pastor, engineer, philanthropist and innovator who gave hope to many,” adding that his death was a great loss to Ghana.

He recounted his admiration for the Apostle’s technological exhibitions and humanitarian works, which inspired national pride and creativity.

Bagbin also commended Sarah Adwoa Safo, daughter of the late Apostle and former MP for Dome-Kwabenya, describing her as a worthy representative of her father’s values through her service to the nation.

He clarified that, contrary to public perception, Adwoa Safo did not vote for him during the Speakership election, though they have continued to share mutual respect.

He assured the family of Parliament’s full support in honouring Apostle Safo’s memory.

Also present at the meeting was the Minister of Local Government and MP for Banda, Ahmed Ibrahim, who eulogized Apostle Safo as a pioneer in Ghana’s technological and innovation landscape.

He emphasised that the Apostle’s contribution to national development merits a state burial, noting that his work significantly advanced local engineering, agriculture, and industrial progress.

Ibrahim pledged his ministry’s support to ensure a befitting burial for the Apostle.

For her part, Sarah Adwoa Safo, speaking on behalf of the family, described her late father as “a pillar and a source of inspiration to the youth.”

She explained that the family’s visit was to formally inform the Speaker of his passing and to acknowledge the close bond between Parliament and the Safo family.

In line with tradition, she presented two bottles of schnapps to the Speaker on behalf of the family.
