Actor Ibrahim Suleiman warns prospective couples against getting married without attending premarital counseling.
Sharing on Twitter (X), the actor highlighted the importance of getting counsel from a marriage counselor before becoming a legally married couple.
He emphasized that couples should make time for premarital counseling, no matter how busy they are.
According to Suleiman, if physically attending a premarital counseling session wouldn’t be helpful, there are counselors who offer remote sessions, so there is no justification to avoid them.
He tweeted,
“Premarital counseling is key
No matter how busy you are, FIND THE TIME
There are counselors who offer remote sessions even.
Do. Not. Tie. The. Knot. Without. It.”
Suleiman is married to a Nollywood actress, Ihuoma Linda Ejiofor with whom he has a son.
His advice has sparked differing views on the internet, with internet users suggesting that prospective couples should consult a licensed and experienced marriage counselor rather than going to a church-sponsored one.
Some argued that premarital counseling does not ensure a successful or unsuccessful marriage, while others supported Suleiman’s suggestion.
Many have shared their similar experiences and how it has benefitted their marriage over the years.
