Popular Ghanaian comedian and political commentator Derick Kobina Bonney, known professionally as DKB, has launched a scathing criticism against citizens who were recently seen apologising to former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for not voting for his New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 elections.

In the video, they expressed regret for not supporting the NPP in the previous election and for instead voting for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which brought President John Dramani Mahama back to power.

On his X handle on September 18, 2025, DKB, a known supporter of the NDC and Mahama, accused these individuals of hypocrisy, pointing out that despite their alleged preference for Akufo-Addo, they benefit from the current economic conditions under Mahama.

Forget protests, trust Mahama to act on galamsey – DKB

“They will prefer changing the dollar at JM rate of GH¢12 instead of NPP rate of GH¢17. They’ll prefer buying a litre of fuel at JM price of GH¢12.5 instead of the NPP’s price of almost GH¢18. Bloody hypocrites!” he wrote.

This is not the first time DKB has been vocal about his political views. Despite claiming in 2016 that he had rejected offers from both the NPP and NDC to remain neutral and focus on his comedy career, he has since become an outspoken supporter of the NDC and Mahama.
