Tagbo fall is a serene gem nestled in the valleys of Mount Afaja Tagbo fall is a serene gem nestled in the valleys of Mount Afaja

Nestled in the valleys of Mount Afaja, Tagbo Falls is a serene, untouched gem located in Latyi Wote in Ghana’s Volta Region, about 27 kilometres east of the Hohoe township.

Surrounded by lush rainforest and a scenic atmosphere, Tagbo Falls is a 60‑meter multi-stage waterfall that cascades over rocky surfaces into a cool, clear pool below.

The falls are ideal for adventurers who enjoy hiking, as reaching them involves a trek through dense rainforest, cocoa farms, and coffee plantations.

Along the path, visitors can encounter rich biodiversity, including sightings of over a hundred butterfly species. The falls also offer relaxation, a refreshing swim, and a peaceful retreat for nature lovers.

    Tradition

Local tradition holds that the falls are ruled by a powerful spirit known as the “small god,” hence the name Tagbo, derived from Togbui.

Legend tells of a fish that, after being caught and cut into pieces, miraculously reassembled itself, prompting reverence for the waters.

As a result, the falls are treated with respect, and the water is often used as a source of drinking water.
