    The Ghanaian snack, “Poloo,” made primarily from coconut, flour, and sugar, can offer health benefits due to its coconut content, which is rich in fibre and beneficial for both skin and digestion.

    Despite being classified as junk food because of the flour used in its preparation, there are still notable health benefits associated with it.

    They include;

    •It boosts digestive health: The fibre from coconut helps to regulate bowel movements.

    •Source of nutrients:

    “Poloo” can provide some vitamins and minerals depending on the specific ingredients used.

    •Skin health: Nutrients in coconut are known to contribute to good skin.

    •Energy: The flour provides the necessary carbohydrates for energy.

    •Low Glycemic Index: Some preparations of “poloo” like baking may have a low glycemic index, making them a low-risk choice for maintaining healthy blood sugar levels.

    Nonetheless, the health benefits can vary depending on the ingredients used and how it’s prepared.

    Ingredients;

    1. Gritted coconuts

    2. All purpose flour

    3. Margarine

    4. Nutmeg powder

    5. Sugar

    6. Salt

    7. Baking powder (optional)

    8. Water/ coconut milk

    9. Oil

    Instructions

    1. In a bowl, mix all the dry ingredients(flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, nutmeg)

    2. Add margarine and mix well

    3. Add the gritted coconut

    4. Add the water/ coconut milk and mix well

    5. Pour the dough on to a flat and clean surface and roll it out

    6. Cut it to preferred shapes and sizes

    7. In a preheated oil, fry until golden brown. Or bake

    8. Take it, let it cool and serve.
