A leading contender in the upcoming presidential race of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong, has tasked the party’s delegates to open themselves up and pay attention to the larger Ghanaian voting populace as they prepare to elect a flagbearer.

This, according to him, has become eminent in view of the fact that not only NPP delegates will cast their votes to determine who becomes the next president of Ghana in 2028 when general elections are held.

The aspirant stated this on August 27, 2025, while speaking to a crowd of party delegates who had gathered at the party’s headquarters, where he formally filed his nomination documents, affirming his participation in the presidential race.

He said, “You must note that not only NPP delegates will vote in 2028, but the entire voter population in the country. What did you hear from the streets when coming here?”

He posited that his name has become a household name across the country, asserting that “everywhere you go, you hear the people shout that if you don’t bring Kennedy Agyapong, we will not vote.”

“So my appeal to the delegates is that, listen to what Ghanaians told you when you were leaving home. The message on the street and in trotro is that if you don’t’ bring Ken Agyapong, we won’t vote; at the beer bar, the message is that we will vote for the love of Kennedy Agyapong,” he stated

He appealed to the delegates to let the message from the streets inform their decision when they queue on January 31, 2026, to elect a flagbearer of the party, insisting that a vote for him to lead the party will be a vote for the party’s victory in 2028.

Kennedy Agyapong has officially submitted his nomination forms at the party headquarters ahead of the January 31, 2026, presidential primaries.

Kennedy Agyapong, who is contesting for the second consecutive time, has promised that job creation for the youth will be his top priority if he wins the votes of Ghanaians to become the nation’s president.
