Midfielder Albert Amoah’s move to Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi involves huge finances that will benefit both Asante Kotoko and the player.

According to a report from Kumasi-based Nhyira FM, the player will earn $200,000 as a signing-on fee for joining the Libyan giants.

In addition, the player will receive a monthly salary of $20,000 in his first season, as the club monitors his performance for evaluation.

“If the former Kotoko striker impresses and delivers strong performances, his salary will be increased to $25,000 in his second season,” the report added.

Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko’s Communications Director, Sarfo Duku, has revealed that Amoah’s move to Libyan club Al Ahly Benghazi was finalised just hours after the team’s 5-1 defeat to Wydad Athletic Club.

“We had wanted to extend the conversation. Unfortunately, the Libyan federation had to close its player registrations yesterday. So obviously, we also have to consider the interest of the player, as against that of the club. And the conversation started way, way back, and there were a couple of clubs as well.”

“But when we realised that the Libyans also had to register the boy [Albert] before the deadline, which was yesterday, we had no other option than to reach a deal which will be mutually beneficial to all the parties. Don’t forget that Kotoko also needs money to run the club,” Duku stated.
