Destalker is a Nigerian comedian

Nigerian comedian Destalker has revealed that he once attempted internet fraud but was unsuccessful before discovering his calling in comedy.

Speaking on the In-House Gist podcast, he shared how he was introduced to online scams and how his kindhearted nature ultimately prevented him from going through with it.

Destalker explained that a friend, now a Christian cleric, introduced him to internet fraud while they were both in Enugu.

“Before I left Enugu, I tried internet fraud with one of my friends who is now a pastor, but I wasn’t successful. We would book night sessions at a cyber café for N250. I couldn’t afford it then, so my friend always paid for me. He is now a big pastor, Rev Nelson Umeh,” he said.

He went on to describe how he spent his time differently from his friend. While his friend focused on scamming victims online, Destalker shared that he spent his time chatting with family, friends, and old schoolmates from Ughelli on Facebook.

“However, while he was scouting for victims online, I was busy chatting with my family, friends, and old schoolmates from Ughelli. After that, I would fall asleep. There is no need for overspending when you are on the wrong lane…

“But today, it is a changed story. Internet fraud was not my destiny. I can’t defraud a person because I am kindhearted. Because of all that I went through, I have grown so confident that no one can stop me from achieving my goal,” he stated.

The comedian also addressed criticisms from colleagues early in his career, recalling that some fellow comedians claimed he would not succeed at certain shows without their support.

“There were some comedians who said without them I would not perform at certain shows, and I told them that I would blow even without performing there. And I did. Some of the shows have gone extinct, and some of the comedians are also no longer relevant,” Destalker expressed.
