
The Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Yussif Issaka Jajah, has urged Ghanaians to embrace and promote their mother tongues as vital tools for cultural preservation, national identity and sustainable development.
He delivered the keynote address on behalf of the Sector Minister, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, at the 2026 International Mother Language Day celebration held at the British Council in Accra.
The Acting Executive Director of the Bureau of Ghana Languages, Mr. Ebenezer Ahiator Esq., highlighted the importance of multilingual education under the theme “Youth Voices on Multilingual Education,” calling for renewed attention to Ghanaian language instruction in schools.
The event reaffirmed government’s commitment to protecting Ghana’s linguistic heritage and promoting inclusive, multilingual education nationwide.
