Corinthians forward, Memphis Depay has hit back at critics on social media after receiving backlash for posting a photo of his girlfriend in a bikini on Instagram.
The Dutch international, who joined the Brazilian giants in 2024, shared a picture of his girlfriend at a beach in Salvador.
The post quickly went viral, drawing mixed reactions from fans, some praising the pair, while others questioned the appropriateness of the image for a professional footballer’s page.
In response, Depay addressed the criticism directly, clarifying that his Instagram page is not meant for football-related discussions.

“This page is not for football. Take your football intelligence to my real page and talk there. Anyone who comments here will be blocked. This page is not for that.”
Depay’s firm response has since sparked further debate among fans, with many supporting his right to separate his private life from his football career.
The Dutch forward is currently enjoying his best spell since joining the Brazilian club in 2024.
With seven goal contributions in 18 appearances, he now stands just one short of matching his most productive season in a Corinthians shirt.
