Demeter Ghana Limited continues to strengthen its support to farmers by embarking on a series of farmer engagement tours across the Western South, Western North, and Central Regions in Ghana. The visits focused on hearing from farmers about their experiences with Calciprill, the company’s flagship soil amendment product, to get a detailed understanding of the challenges farmers face in sustaining productivity and improving yields.

For the past six years, Demeter Ghana has worked with stakeholders like COCOBOD to make Calciprill accessible to farmers, helping to address the issue of soil acidity, a major constraint to crop productivity in Ghana. This recent tour depicts how Demeter Ghana believes that the best solutions come from working hand-in-hand with farmers and learning from their daily realities in the field.

William Hunt, Country Manager at Demeter Ghana Limited noted, “Our priority in this tour is to directly engage with farmers in their communities, to ensure that they receive the best of products, training and support needed to improve soil health and sustainable farming.” He added that “the essence of this tour also is to assess Calciprill’s impact, to the farmers using it.

Farmers who participated shared feedback on the effectiveness of Calciprill in improving soil health and yields, as well as concerns around product availability and knowledge of proper application. Broader issues such as access to inputs and the need for more training also came up, which highlights the importance of continued farmer education, demonstrations, and reliable distribution.

Following the feedback gathered from the farmers, Demeter Ghana aims to expand training and awareness campaigns on soil management and Calciprill usage. The company will also strengthen its collaboration with distributors and partners to improve product accessibility and delivery to smallholder farmers and beyond.

Demeter Ghana’s vision is to provide relevant farming solutions that not only boost yields but also improve livelihoods and long-term returns for farmers across Ghana.
