When Nigerian singer-songwriter Dela first stepped into a studio in late 2022, she wasn’t chasing fame. She was answering a creative calling. That initial appearance on Emaxee’s EP There Are No Rules to This would become the spark behind a rising career now rooted in storytelling, versatility, and purpose.

Since then, the Lagos-based artist has carefully crafted a sound that blurs the lines between genres — mixing R&B, Afrobeats, rap, and pop — while always staying true to her voice.

Breaking out with “Solomon”

Dela’s official debut arrived with Dela, a two-track single featuring the emotionally resonant “Solomon” and the reflective “Save Me.” Released in 2023, the project marked a turning point in her journey, catching the attention of new listeners and industry insiders alike.

“Solomon” in particular struck a chord. It became her breakthrough song, gaining traction online and eventually placing her on the radar of MBA For Africa — a platform that expanded her reach beyond Nigeria and introduced her to a wider African music community.

In the months that followed, Dela released an alternate version of “Solomon,” a reimagined piece that closed one chapter while signaling her readiness for the next.

The *Miosis* era

By November 2024, Dela was ready for a fuller introduction. She released Miosis, a seven-track EP that reflected the growth, confidence, and vulnerability of an artist discovering her place.

“I’m so proud of that body of work. I worked so hard, and I’m glad it’s out there,” she shared. “I know it hasn’t scratched the surface yet, but it’s going to do big things for me.”

Miosis blends personal themes with a polished sonic identity. It is both an emotional statement and a strategic move — a clear sign that Dela is here to stay.

New sounds, bigger dreams

Looking ahead, Dela is already preparing the next phase of her artistry. She is set to release acoustic versions of songs from Miosis, giving fans a raw, stripped-back interpretation of her sound.

“New Dela. It’s different,” she said. “The acoustic versions of my songs from Miosis drop real soon, and the new music is even closer than expected. I really can’t wait to see the world receive it.”

As for her long-term goals, Dela doesn’t hesitate. “World domination,” she says, confidently.

Quiet strength, bold vision

Though her music is powerful, Dela herself remains introspective and grounded. She describes herself as an introvert who thrives in calm, creative environments and chooses collaborators who understand her rhythm.

“Pray, have faith, and keep working hard and smart,” she advises other rising talents. “Don’t be afraid of evolution.”

With each release, Dela continues to evolve. Her message is clear, her sound is growing, and her vision is global. Whether through full productions or acoustic experiments, she is building a world of her own — one note, one lyric, and one audience at a time.
