Former Black Stars captain, Andre Ayew has visited the Black Queens’ camp in Accra as the players continue their boycott of their 2026 WAFCON qualifier second leg against Egypt over unpaid bonuses.

The senior women’s national team has refused to train ahead of Tuesday’s clash at the Accra Sports Stadium, insisting they will not play unless their outstanding bonuses from the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco are paid.

Each player is reportedly owed $9,500 from that campaign, which ended in July.

Ayew arrived at the team’s hotel on Monday, October 27, 2025, to speak directly with the players and appeal for calm.

In a viral video, the former Ghana captain was seen entering the team hotel while talking to some players in a bid to urge them to stay united and consider honoring the fixture while discussions with authorities continue.

Earlier in the day, GFA president Kurt Okraku and the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, also visited the team to resolve the impasse, but their efforts proved unsuccessful.
