    Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido has officially been inducted as a voting member of the Recording Academy, the body behind the Grammy Awards.

    This milestone allows him to participate in the nomination and voting process for the 2026 Grammy Awards, joining over 10,000 music professionals who cast ballots across 94 categories.

    The Academy announced its new class of members in an Instagram post on Tuesday, featuring Davido alongside other notable additions including Ravyn Lenae, Offset, Jessie Reyez, Zac Brown Band, and Stewart Copeland.

    The post highlighted the importance of member participation, stating;

    “Creating a song or an album takes heart, time, and dedication. That’s why Recording Academy members, including #Davido… are sharing why your participation matters.”

    The singer who earned three Grammy nominations in 2024 for his album Timeless, but did not win, is now part of a select, invitation-only group of artists and music executives who help shape the future of global music recognition.

    Davido’s inclusion aligns with the Recording Academy’s ongoing efforts to diversify its membership. As part of its 2025 initiative, the Academy invited nearly 3,600 new members, with 39% representing underrepresented or global communities.

    Below are some of the reactions;

    “This guy no go gree vote for Wizkid if this news is actually true.”

    “Davido stepping into the GRAMMY voting room is not just a personal milestone it’s a major move for the culture. Let’s go, OBO.”

    “Person way never ever win grammy how him want take know Good music to vote.”
