Darwin Nunez ignored Liverpool‘s travelling supporters at the full-time whistle after their 2-2 draw against Aston Villa on Wednesday night.

The Reds moved eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table after a second-half strike from Trent Alexander-Arnold salvaged a point for his side.

While it may feel as though it was two points dropped for Arne Slot‘s side, Uruguayan forward Nunez appeared to be particularly frustrated as he walked off alone.

In a video taken at full-time, Liverpool’s players could be seen walking towards the travelling fans at Villa Park and applauding them.

However, the camera panned across the pitch to show Nunez trudging off on his own. The caption read: ‘I can accept missing open goals but Nunez was strolling most of the time he was on. Shocking attitude’.

Another wrote: ‘He’s done. I don’t like that attitude post match at all.’

Nunez’s frustration likes comes after missing a golden opportunity to put his team in the lead during the clash against Aston Villa.

The Reds endured a challenging game as Alexander-Arnold scored the equaliser in the 61st minute after numerous missed chances in front of the Villa goal.

It came after Aston Villa took a 2-1 lead with a header from Ollie Watkins, which came in extra time during the first half, following a cross from Lucas Digne on the left flank.

Despite recording just two big chances throughout the entire game, the hosts managed to score the 1-1 equaliser as Youri Tielemans found the back of the net in the 38th minute.

His strike came as a response to Mohamed Salah‘s goal just nine minutes earlier, following a huge mistake by Villa’s right back Andres Garcia.

However, Nunez had an excellent opportunity to give Liverpool the lead in the middle of the second half after he received a perfect pass from Dominik Szoboszlai, but he ended up hitting the ball significantly over the wide-open goal.

Liverpool fans were quick to react to on social media considering that Nunez’s miss cost the team two crucial points in the Premier League.

One said: ‘Nunez mate I’m done with you, that’s the final straw.’ Another added: ‘How can Nunez physically hit that ball so high’

A third supporter said: ‘Premier league athlete, league 2 finisher.’

The 2024-25 campaign is another challenging season for the 25-year-old striker, who has started only on seven occasions out of 21 Premier League games, scoring four goals.

The Uruguay international saw his move to Anfield in the summer of 2022 for a fee rising to £85million.
