Renowned sports journalist Dan Kwaku Yeboah has criticised the design of the leaked Black Stars jersey set to be used at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The leaked jersey features a clean white base accented with bold, abstract line patterns in red, yellow, and green, symbolizing Ghana’s national colors and cultural vibrancy.

At the center of the chest sits the iconic black star, a powerful emblem of national pride and identity, while the Ghana Football Association crest is positioned beside it. A black cobweb‑like design appears in the middle, representing the famous Kwaku Ananse motif.

Reacting to this, the outspoen sports personality lambasted the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for choosing a design that, in his view, has nothing to do with football, particularly the ‘Kwaku Ananse’ aspect.

Kwaku Yeboah noted that the yellow jersey previously received public commendation for its beauty, which attracted high patronage, but the same cannot be said about the leaked design.

“There is a commercial agreement between GFA and PUMA, so the more beautiful the jersey is, the more likely the patronage. You introduced the yellow jersey and people commended you, so what prevents you from changing certain things to improve it?

“And now you’ve brought the Kwaku Ananse design. What role does Kwaku Ananse play for us? It is not nice, we don’t need any meaning,” he said in Twi during an interview with Vida Adutwumwaa.

He further questioned the GFA’s partnership with PUMA, adding: “When it popped up on social media, some people even ridiculed that Yaw Dabo’s academy would not wear such a jersey…why should it always be that PUMA is the only company to design our jerseys? I don’t understand.”
