The NFL roster reshuffle is in full swing across the league, with a host of teams revamping their quarterback rooms.

The Dallas Cowboys made a surprising move on Monday as quarterback Joe Milton was released.

Milton made way after the Cowboys claimed running back Emari Demercado off waivers from the Kansas City Chiefs and opted to keep Sam Howell as backup quarterback to Dak Prescott.

The move came after the Chiefs had to make a quarterback decision of their own, opting to release Chris Oladokun on Sunday just months after he stepped up to replace Patrick Mahomes after his season-ending injury.

Milton, 26, was a sixth-round NFL Draft pick by the New England Patriots in 2024 after his college career at Michigan and Tennessee.

His big arm saw him flash in preseason games and he upset the Buffalo Bills in his first start in January 2025, knocking the Patriots out of contention for the No.1 pick.

He was traded to the Cowboys months later and appeared in four games last season, but has now been discarded after losing the backup battle to former Washington Commanders starter Sam Howell in a surprising outcome.

And while he is on the lookout for his next team, Chris Oladokun has also hit the market.

The Chiefs opted to release the 28-year-old after five seasons with the team after rookie Garrett Nussmeier earned the third-string spot behind returning superstar Patrick Mahomes and new backup Justin Fields.

Just a few months ago, Oladokun was thrust into the Chiefs starting role to replace Mahomes after Gardner Minshew also suffered a season-ending injury.

He made his first start on Christmas Day against the Denver Broncos after a message from Mahomes telling him ‘go be yourself’. And while he was on the losing side, he received high praise from Travis Kelce in the aftermath.

‘I’m proud of him, man,’ Kelce said. ‘Throughout the week, his attention to detail, professionalism, his leadership, couldn’t be happier for the guy, obviously wish we could’ve got that win for him.’

Oladokun lost his only two games as Chiefs starter and now joins the flurry of quarterbacks searching for a team after rosters were cut down to 53 players.

Will Levis was also cut by the Tennessee Titans, while the New York Jets released Bailey Zappe, opting to keep Cade Klubnik as backup to Geno Smith.

Four teams, however, have opted to keep four QBs on their initial 53-man roster – the Pittsburgh Steelers, Atlanta Falcons, Philadelphia Eagles and Minnesota Vikings.
