Amid speculations online over the authenticity of Daddy Lumba’s remains, a close family member has opened up to shut down the claims and set the record straight.
Faustina Fosu, a sister of the late highlife musician, has rejected social media assertions suggesting that the body placed in Daddy Lumba’s coffin was not his. She described the allegations as deliberate falsehoods and said they had no basis in truth.
Addressing the media on December 14, 2025, Fosu said she personally saw the musician after his death and had no doubt about his identity.
“He’s the one and he was looking good when I saw him. People were alleging it was a toy that was in the coffin but it’s not true,” she said.

She also clarified that several aspects of the funeral arrangements were guided by instructions Daddy Lumba gave before his passing, particularly regarding how his body should be presented.
“Daddy Lumba said it before he died that we shouldn’t reveal his face and he also didn’t want us to lay him in public,” Ernestina Fosu disclosed.
According to her, the family was forced to reconsider parts of those plans after misinformation began spreading rapidly online. While they eventually allowed a public lying-in-state, they still took steps to respect his wishes.
“People know how to fabricate lies, that’s why we decided to lay him in public, so we covered his face was just to honor his wish,” Lumba’s sister further stated.
