    One backup vocalist who truly deserves her flowers in the Ghanaian music industry is the spectacular voice behind many of the hit songs of the late Highlife legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.

    That particular voice belongs to none other than the renowned Yvonne Ohene Djan, also known as “She, the Voice Behind the Stars.”

    ‘She’ has made immense contributions to the Ghanaian music scene with her unique vocals, lending her talent to hit songs by artistes such as Ofori Amponsah, Daddy Lumba, Kwabena Kwabena, Obour, Kojo Antwi, and many others.

    Daddy Lumba – (Mensei Da Harry)

    If you’ve ever wondered who the angelic voice is in the late Daddy Lumba’s ‘Mensei Da’ (Harry) song, the answer is ‘She’ the remarkable backup vocalist.

    She lent her vocals to the track, serving as a backup singer and adding depth to the iconic sound.

    The original song was released by the late musician in 1992, with a remix following in 2006.

    Daddy Lumba – Nana Winner

    ‘She’s contribution to Daddy Lumba‘s iconic NPP campaign song released in 2008, and subsequently used for the 2012, 2016 and 2020 elections cannot be overlooked.

    The song “Nana Winner” played a significant role in Nana Akufo-Addo’s 2016 election victory, as it resonated deeply with many Ghanaians.

    The singer also collaborated on numerous songs with the late Highlife legend, including “Tokorom”, “Enim A Yedi Di Sika”, among others.

    Kwabena Kwabena – Fakye

    ‘She’ didn’t only feature on the late Daddy Lumba’s songs, she also had a hit songs with Highlife singer Kwabena Kwabena.

    In 2023, Kwabena Kwabena released one of his hit singles titled “Fakye.”

    On “Fakye,” She brought her unique creativity and vocal depth, adding a special touch to the song.

    Obour – Aboa Konkotiba

    Ghanaian Highlife musician Obour and Samini, released one of their hit songs, “Aboa Konkontiba.”

    ‘She’ also contributed to this timeless piece, which is still enjoyed by partygoers across Ghana to this day.

    The song subsequently won numerous awards, including honors at the Ghana Music Awards.

    Ofori Amponsah Otoolege

    ‘She’ also contributed immensely to the song “Otoolege,” composed by Ghanaian Highlife musician Ofori Amponsah.

    Her unique voice cannot go unnoticed when one listens to this much-loved single.

    Ofori Amponsah had numerous other hit songs, such as “Sardine” and “Emmanuella,” among others, which also featured ‘She’ as the backup vocalist.

    Despite her extensive work as a backup vocalist, ‘She’ also has her own songs, many of which are hits.
